The Housing Solutions Lab is pleased to announce the five teams to participate in the 2023 Peer Cities Network.
Over an eight-month period, participants will work with housing experts and a national community of practitioners to pursue equitable, evidence-based housing policies and find solutions to pressing housing needs.
The Peer Cities Network helps city leaders advance effective housing policies that promote racial equity, increase access to opportunity, and improve health and well-being for residents. This is the third year of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-supported initiative. The cities announced today include:
- Cheyenne, WY
- Jackson, TN
- Olympia, WA
- Rapid City, SD
- Skokie, IL.
This year’s cohort will focus on advancing a specific housing policy project or initiative designed to address longstanding housing challenges and disparities in their communities. Initiatives include local financing options for the construction and preservation of affordable housing, exploring anti-displacement policies, advancing comprehensive local housing strategies, and addressing vacant and deteriorating housing.
“Our Housing Solutions Lab peer cities networks provide incredibly valuable insights into the ways that small and midsize cities are tackling housing instability and other local housing concerns. At the same time, they offer city leaders the opportunity to learn from peers from across the nation who are grappling with similar housing challenges. The Network will help us identify and share policy solutions that advance racial equity, encourage cross-sector collaboration, and improve housing conditions in cities nationally.”
