City Engagement

At the Housing Solutions Lab, direct work with cities grappling with housing affordability and other challenges is pivotal. We offer several training and peer learning opportunities designed for local leaders and housing stakeholders. These gatherings help communities:

  • Assess their local housing needs.
  • Develop a narrative around the challenges residents face.
  • Explore policy options to help further housing goals.
  • Exchange information with peer cities.
  • Learn about housing policy innovations from around the country.
  • Access data about local housing and neighborhood conditions.
  • Develop comprehensive local housing strategies.

Convenings

The Housing Solutions Lab periodically invites cities to visit New York University for in-person convenings as needed. Cities are able to work with peers and policy experts to strategize on housing issues.

Data Talks

Invitation to Data Takes Webinar Series to Discuss How Data Can Be Used for Housing Policy
In 2023, the Lab launched a series of mini-webinars tackling a variety of topics related to using local data to inform housing policy. Each 45-minute session of Data Talks includes a short presentation and a fireside chat with a city or housing authority partner about their experience using local data. Register for upcoming sessions, and view past sessions on demand.

If you have questions about any of these learning opportunities, contact Director of City Engagement Jess Wunsch at jess.wunsch@nyu.edu. You can also sign up for our mailing list here
