Housing Solutions Lab Announces 2025 Home Repair Peer Network Cities

April  09, 2025

The NYU Furman Center’s Housing Solutions Lab is excited to announce city and county selections for the 2025 Home Repair Peer Network. The 2025 Network builds on the success of last year’s cohort, bringing together teams of city officials and nonprofit partners eager to strengthen home repair programs in their communities. By working alongside peers and experts, they aim to expand efforts that support safe, stable housing.

In the current economic climate, where housing concerns are at the forefront, cities are increasingly deploying home repair programs as part of a broader housing strategy. That strategy includes addressing housing quality and health concerns, as well as supporting neighborhood stabilization and revitalization efforts. These popular programs can play a key role in advancing city goals to support aging in place, prevent the displacement of long-time residents, and allow homeowners who might not otherwise be able to afford critical repairs maintain a safe and healthy living environment.

Selected teams were chosen from a pool of applicants nationwide and include city and county officials and nonprofit organizations from the following localities:

  • Austin, TX
  • Chesterfield/Henrico Counties, VA
  • Denver, CO
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Kansas City, MO
  • San Antonio, TX

From April to June 2025, the Network will hold monthly virtual sessions where participants will engage with peers in government, policy experts, and technical assistance providers. During these sessions, Network participants will share ideas and strategies on various topics, including expanding funding sources, strengthening stakeholder coordination and partnerships, assessing and tracking home repair needs and services, and addressing workforce challenges. A key focus will be ensuring that the experiences and needs of residents are at the center of their home repair programs.

Read a participant’s response to being selected for this year’s Network cohort regarding the transformational journey that lies ahead for their localities:

"The City Home Repair Program of Kansas City, Missouri, is proud to be selected as one of the six Home Repair Peer Cities by the Housing Solutions Lab at NYU’s Furman Center. Through this networking opportunity, we will collaborate with others to continue our commitment to homeless prevention and housing preservation in our community."

Funding for this initiative is provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
