With support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, Minneapolis was a part of the Housing Solutions Lab’s Large City Peer Network. The Network brought housing officials and leaders from 10 cities together to share information about how they were responding to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and associated housing challenges.
Minneapolis was also a participant in the Local Housing Solutions Institute, an intensive program of seminars, strategic consultation, and team-building designed to help cities and counties refine and strengthen their housing strategies. With funding from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, LHSI participants convened for a weeklong in-person retreat in 2019.
Minneapolis made national headlines for Minneapolis 2040, the first citywide effort to eliminate single-family detached lot zoning.
Andrea Brennan, Director of Planning and Economic Development for the City of Minneapolis, appeared on our panel event Reckoning with the History of Housing Segregation.
According to our Housing Needs Assessment Tool there was a reduction in units with low rents between 2015 and 2020.
